About Buro Eight

Engineering powered by data

For more than 15 years, Buro Eight has delivered major infrastructure and building projects, pairing a depth of experience few firms can claim with a data-driven, model-based approach most have only recently adopted. With more than 60 million square metres delivered across the GCC, Europe and North America, Buro Eight has turned long experience into something rarer: reliability, proven at scale.

The role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will manage quantity surveying, cost planning, budget control and commercial reporting across several projects. You will make sure take-offs, estimates and cost tracking are accurate, so projects stay within budget and on time, and you will support tenders, claims and variations.

What you will do

  • Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings, BIM models and project documents.
  • Analyse tender documents, specifications and contract requirements at bid stage.
  • Prepare and review bills of quantities, cost estimates and budget forecasts.
  • Track committed and actual costs against approved budgets, and report deviations and risks.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, dashboards, revenue forecasts and budget updates.
  • Review subcontractor quotations, payment applications and variation orders.
  • Prepare and assess claims, variations, change orders and commercial letters.
  • Help prepare interim payment certificates and final accounts.
  • Support project managers on contract administration, and keep cost records ready for audit.

What you will bring

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost control in construction or engineering.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Strong take-off, estimating, BOQ and cost control skills, and sound knowledge of contracts, claims and variations.
  • Clear reporting, communication and negotiation, working both alone and in a team.

Good to have

  • Experience with BIM-based quantity extraction.
  • Experience with ERP, cost control systems or project management software.
